Description
Elegant, English Yeoman of the Guard partisan/spear.Approximate measurements: iron part is 27 inches long with wood shaft/pole 55 inches long.
The iron faceted spear point was broken off at the base and then reinforced to fit present socket.Shaft is an old replacement.
It is quite old and dates to Charles II. The pattern was used through the 18th century. Probably the weapon of a door guard at a royal residence.
Some of the same partisan/spear point patterns were also used in Ireland for the Viceroy's guard in Dublin Castle.
In
excellent antique condition with signs of age and use and stable oxidation.
