    Description

    A 20th Century British export Bowie style knife. Marked Joseph Rogers & Co Norfolk Sheffield. With two British proofs partialy covered by the guard as well as VR, (Victoria Regina). The marks are poorly struck and partially obscured.
    The reverse side of the blade bears a Diamond with the words Sporting & Defense.
    This is NOT a Civil War era "Bowie Knife" and is not priced as such. It was crafted for export to the US market in the 20th C.
    The Victoria mark is possible since she reigned until1902. However, these Bowie style knives were popular in the US market and continued to be sold in the US after her death
    This is a sturdy, well built knife in good condition and as stated would be good for Hunting or Defense or Collecting.
